It's a 32" TV with 720p.. unless you've your face pressed against the glass, it makes shag all difference!

Huge difference on a 32", maybe you're thinking of a 22" fella haha.

You will see absolutely no difference at 32", FULL HD is pointless at that size.

No he's not. He's right. for a 32" 720p, you would have to be sitting at less than 6' away to see all available detail, and that's with perfect vision honed to picking out 'artifacts' and things that most of us don't notice anyway. 4' if it's 1080p. Beyond that, forget it. All other things being equal, of course.

Would this be a good buy for a bedroom TV for playing PS4? Thinking of upgrading sons 19" TV for Xmas but haven't a clue re specs.

Also has anyone bought from Pixmania before? Are they reputable?

The exact model number is UE32J4100AWXZF and it's not listed here http://www.saorview.ie/product/samsung/

The specs say that it has Terrestrial HD (DVB-T). Since 1st January 2013, DVB-T2 is mandatory for Saorview approval. See here.

    Jesus lads.

The mother wants a 32 inch with saorview, that she can watch DVDs and sky on. Will this do the job?

If she has sky why does she need saorview ?

For anyone interested in this TV:

    1. DVB-T & MPEG-4 - It'll work on Saorview
    2. Despite other comments, at this size, 1080p vs 720p difference is not a concern.

Any posts to the contrary are inaccurate.

Will games have the same clarity? What size screen does 1080 start making a difference?

    Cheers.

There are countless standard 'Freeview' models for sale in the UK & ROI without official Saorview certification. They all deliver Saorview without issue

And again, many sets with DVB-T, MPEG-4 & MHEG5 are receiving DTT perfectly well without DVB-T2.

Exactly. People get hung up on DVB-T2 being a 'must have' for saorview. This coupled with the fact that many sets are not on the Saorview site as 'approved' leads people to believe that these will not work. If its DVB-T and MPEG-4, it'll work. 100%.

DVB-T2 only comes into play for UK HD Freeview.

Hoboo, see post 13 earlier by enfilade. That will clarify it for you. In short, the image will be fine.

What makes the Pixmania page confusing is the fact that it states "This TV has no DVB T2 tuner." and no further explanation is given. They could have stated something like "This TV has a DVB-T tuner instead of a DVB-T2 tuner required for Saorview approval" and giving an explanation that you can receive Saorview using a DVB-T receiver.
