Velux Window Controller Issue (electrical)

    Hi Folks,

Trying to open a motorized window which does not seem to be budging, WLC 100 54 04 Velux Controller. Checked the wires and the board for damage all seems to be ok. When the power is connected I get clicks from the relay and then it stops that's about it.

Test button lights up fine and the panel appears to be fine.

Would I be correct in saying that the relay is not getting enough power to close the circuit (ie the PSU is faulty?)

Sounds like a jammed motor....if there are clicks from the relay, then it's possibly trying to apply power to the motor...

If you know what voltage the motor requires, can you apply voltage directly to it and see if it opens (make sure the polarity is right)....if it opens, then you know to look at the relay/PCB...

You could be right! the motor voltage would be 21v (guessing from the output), I think I have the same unit on another window in the house. I might try it and see if it budges, at least I can rule out the control box.

On a side note anyone know if you can open the velux windows manually when there is a motor involved. Access to the motor will be tricky

Is the Velux new-ish? I've a couple of centre pivot motorised units. If you open them manually, the chain mechanism disconnects itself and it reconnects then when you close it again.

My units take 220V directly and don't have a relay setup. No sure if the older units are the same.

I think it's a notched bar that runs on a sprocket if that makes sense ? I'll get a PIC from the window that is working

    Control unit attached

Ah right - different to mine so. Mine are the integra model and don't have a separate control unit/panel. They just take constant mains and pair with a wireless remote.

See the chain driven example below:

I would have thought you could still manually open yours though.....

That's the one I managed to get it open manually , now to get it fixed

With the window opened manually/chain disconnected - does the chain move when activated?

Could it just need a little oil? Probably hasn't been used much the last few months.....

Another thing - have you rain sensors fitted? Worth checking them to see if they are over-riding the signals.
