we re in pretty much same situation but we were very grateful when we called the council, they always sorted it. theyve come out to us with one of those specialised drain cleaning trucks and sorted it, free of charge but with everything moved over to iw now, id say that wont be happening again. we ve had it pumped out many times now. our sewer system is a disaster. we probably need a whole new system.

YE its my mothers house , and the council were out before but they said they could not do anything as the houses were not council owned .. i know its expensive enough to get someone out to clear it , the last time it was over 150 euros i think she had to pay .

id say we ll get the same guff if we rang now so i ll be paying with gritted teeth next time. im not surprised with that cost. i was talking to the truck driver the last time. he was giving me the figures of what he earned from it and what his boss was making. cant remember them now but he was getting shafted for the work and hours he was doing. unfortunately i dont have any other solutions for you but hopefully somebody else will. its not a cheap fix and its very annoying. our sewer is really dreadful. a 70's build with terrible standards.

its hard to say, you could be wasting your time and money. i think id go looking for the manhole first to see if its worth your while. they can be bloody anywhere though. council went looking for ours years ago. couldnt find it so built us a new one. you may have to bit the bullet on this one and call irish water
