Just had this on in the background right now.
On about some school somewhere where the play area is split into two.
A normal play area and a quieter bit called the "intellectual corner"
Am I the only person who's a bit wtf at this? Why not call it the quiet corner?
What if your a quiet kid who doesnt like the boring games in the intellectual corner or the normal play area? What if your a sporty kid, are they not intellectual?
This is just ****ed up in so many ways. Its the fecking message they're giving that creeps me out

    A playschool was it?

Daft title, and I reckon it'd only put children off going there. I'd happily have gone to a corner with a book for breaktimes, but I'd prefer to be out of sight. Sitting there in the "intellectual corner" would have made me a target.

It's an insult to real intellectuals.

Won't someone think of the intellectuals ?

Surely the intellectuals have got all our thinking covered for us?

Intellectual should be seen as a positive word. Maybe things like this are the first step to making it more appealing, or at least not something to be avoided.

So kids, who wants to go to the intellectual corner and who wants to play in the dumbass zone?

I agree to a point but splitting a play area in two and calling one side the intellectual corner is labelling kids and dividing their social group. I'm sure they'll move between the two but kids that spend the vast majority of their time in one bit more than the other will surely develop some kind of internal label, even if they can't express it.
If it was just the quiet corner atleast they could just be in a quiet mood.

"I don't like playing in the intellectual corner, therefore I must not be intelligent"
    versus
"I dont like playing in the quiet corner therefore I'm not a quiet person".

We had a book corner. It was a shelf with some books on it. Technically not even a corner. Young me would have preferred if they had called it the intellectual corner.

There was a 'piss corner' too. It was just a corner that inexplicably smelt of piss. Probably because someone pissed there.

Sounds more like the ineffectual corner tbh, rather than anything intellectual about it. Intellectual should be an aspiration and not a designation.

In my day they used to call it a library.
