    Evening all,

Having a bit of a stressfull time now. I started a new job a few months ago and just noticed than out of getting 1200euro for the month 715 is PAY. I earn 10.55 an hour. Im just wondering what on earth could have happened. My first pay check for a week and a bit was for about 500 and had zero tax so im definitely not on emergency tax.

Could it be that my employer has miss calculated? or would this not be possible?

My pay check looks like this

    1252.00 @ 119 hours

    PAYE 715.05
    Universal social charge 134.98

This is for the month only!

Any help or advice appreciated so i can call my office manager equipped with a bit of info.

You most likely are on emergency tax.

If the employer has some information for you the first 4 weeks of emergency tax aren't too bad. The next 4 weeks it's gets worse and then on its pretty bad. Check your payslip. It will tell you your basis of taxation, emergency (e), week one (w) or normal/cumulative. Emergency tax exists to tell you something is wrong and for you to contact your payroll and Revenue.

My payslip doesn't show what taxation im on as i was looking for this. Just says PRSI CLASS A0.

What amount of tax credits and SRCOP (Standard rate cut off point ) is applied if any? Did you notify Revenue when you started your new job or give your new employer your P45?
Have you received a new tax credit certificate showing your new employer? If the answer is no to the previous two questions then you are most likely on emergency tax and as previous poster says it's not bad in first 4 weeks then gets progressively worse.
I'd recommend ringing the PAYE line tomorrow to find out what's going on.

oh no idea. I dont think they have my P45. tax credits 95.20 per week, weekly cut off point is 823.

Why they dont show my tax code on the pay slip then if there was an issue id have fixed after last months pay slip.

Give the revenue a ring 1890 333425. Have your PPSN and your most recent payslip handy. Be prepared to be waiting for maybe 10 to 15 mins to get through. Preferably ring from a landline - it's a lo call number if you ring from a landline. Don't know about mobile charges.

Just explain it as is. There is a possibility that you won't be able to get any rebate (if you're due a rebate) till January as this is the end of the tax year.

I've always found that the best time to ring is lunch time - they often get less phone traffic between 1 and 2.
