Transiting Dubai

    Hey
I'm transiting through Dubai airport on Friday and just wanted to ask some questions... I haven't transited there before.

If I'm just arriving and departing from the same terminal will I still need to go through a security screening?
Also, if I buy alcohol in Dublin Duty Free will I be able to carry it onto the next flight? Or will it be confiscated due to liquid restrictions. Someone told me once its in the proper sealed duty free bag I'll be fine. Anyone know if this is correct?

    Thanks for your help. :)

You will go through security screening again. I haven't tried bringing duty free from Dublin so I don't know if a sealed bag would be acceptable. There's conflicting info online and I wouldn't risk it. Given that Dubai duty free is one of the biggest in the world I'd just buy it there. (I've only ever bought good whisky there and prices are pretty good).

Yes, you will need to go through security. Your duty free will be fine as long as it's properly sealed in Dublin, unless you are going to Australia. See here http://www.emirates.com/ie/english/help/faq/214915/what-is-my-allowance-for-cabin-baggage.

But you'll probably find that booze is cheaper in Dubai anyway.

Went through Dubai last week and noticed that the few alcohol items I checked at the Duty free were cheaper in my local Tesco here in Ireland!

Dammit!!! I'm going to Australia!!! :(

I want to bring a bottle of Dingle Gin with me, so doubtful I can get it in Dubai. If it was anything else I was buying I'd just buy it in Dubai....

yeah, I had a notion about a week ago and decided I'd order the rest of my duty free (make up & perfume) online & pick it up in Dubai as I passed through, but pretty much everything was much dearer in Dubai than Dublin....

Dubai duty free isn't cheap anymore.

The strong dollar (Which UAE Dirham is pegged to) has made it expensive.

I bought 200 cigs as a present, but was shocked to see they were twice as expensive as Malaysia and 4 times as expensive as Cambodia!

Can you get it before Dublin, wrap it really well in checked luggage and hope for the best?
