Sewing Muslin Blankets Together

Having recently bought two muslin blankets online, they were delivered and turns out the wrong size! The size advertised doesn't actually exist so I can return them or was thinking maybe use them sewn together so they are one large blanket. I do like the pattern and material.

The problem is how would you sew two blankets together so that it looked well? I just can't figure how it might be done. Surely a normal stitch (the only one I know), would be too visible and not pretty.

 Is it possible? Any links to videos on a stitch or a method would be great. Thanks!

I know this seems like a stupid question but don't want to hack into two lovely blankets and wreck them both!

Do you have a link to the blakets? its hard to imagine, are they very thin?

If so, I'd recommend French seams, it very easy to do.

If they are thick then depending on the thickness other methods would be better, maybe a Hong Kong seam.

Thanks for that. It is four light layers together. Here's a link:

It just seems awkward because of all the layers. Hong Kong stitch looks interesting for it - thanks a million :)

It depends on how much trouble you want to go to, but if I had that job to do I would:

Remove the edging binding from two long sides (assuming you are putting them long side to long side)

Pull the outer layers back out of the way temporarily and lay the two inner layers flat on the other two inner layers and stitch straight across just to hold them together. Replace one top layer and fold in a small hem on the other layer, do this on both sides, tack it to hold it in place then top stitch across. It will be 10 layers thick so it depends on how thin the fabric is whether this will work, it should be ok with muslin. You will probably need to lengthen your stitch and loosen the tension a bit.

With any of the suggested methods you are going to have to tack it first then hold it firmly front and back of the needle to stop it from creeping.
