I have a ride on mower its geared 5 forward and 1 reverse. the decking rotted and have put a Calf feeder on wheels ! For towing it about really handy !! Thing is reverse is painfully slow and I need reverse for coming out of sheds ! Is there any way of speeding up reverse without it being a big or expense job ! Anyone?

I'd imagine your looking at the Pulley sizes to the drive train. By changing these you should speed up both forward and reverse.

So swapping the one from the engine and the one from the back axle? Would that be an easy enough fix? And make it faster but not dangerously fast? Even if I had to lock out 3,4,5 gear for safety would be an option

I don't know if you'd need to change both but changing these pulleys would be what I'd look at.
I'd say if you google the lads that race mowers you'll get some idea how they are increasing the speed.

Would putting a towing hook on both ends of the trailer be feasible, would you have room to do a u turn and get past the trailer? Or would that add on too much time? I'm thinking the trailer has 4 wheels but maybe not
