Humax HDR-1000S co-ax input

I purchased a Yamaha Yas-93 soundbar this week and plugged the coax cable into the HDR1000S SPDIF output (making sure it was oriented correctly).

The coax didn't "click" into place as expected and seems to be stuck out about 2mm from being fully inserted (when I tested the coax input on my Samsung TV it clicked into place).

    Is this normal?

The Dolby sound seems to be ok, although a green light (on the Yamaha) indicating it's active is a feint green, rather than strong green which suggests the signal might not be at full strength.

I did apply some force to the cable to see if it would shove into the HDR1000S but I'd rather not push it to the extreme and break the thing.
