I'm always disappointed at the political will here to leave BVD continue in the country and still have a 5 year plan especially when numbers are so small.

why can't all positive calves get removed and if farmer does not remove, place a penalty on the SFP

the dept also need to pay folks on time for calves disposed as there is no excuse for the late payment.

BVD is complex.i had few this year in a herd that has been vaccinated for years and is 100% BVD free all tested. Vet said vaccine is not 100% effect only high 90s per cent. Also more importantly noone in Ireland looking at the link between BDV in sheep and that being a cause of BVD in cattle. To say I was annoyed to get BVD was an understatment.

    Progress on the BVD front.

The ultimate purpose of debate is not to produce consensus. It's to promote critical thinking.
