My mate's 6770 rear mech will only shift up and down the 3 smallest cogs.Battery is fully charged and bike has'nt been in a crash. In fact its been sitting in a spare bedroom for the past 2 months.Any one know of a shop in Dublin that can troubleshoot the problem and fix it?Thanks.

It might be in protection mode? Doesn't take a actual crash! A knock can do it.

Try and put it in recovery mode... Hold in the button on the junction box for 5+ seconds and when the red light is flashing keep spinning the cranks and the rear derailleur should automatically go through the whole rear cassette.

The fact it is moving three gears is weird though. Crash mode should be no gears. The only thing that stops a rear derailleur moving are the limit screws? bar a mech failure!

Is it in adjustment mode (has button on junction box been pressed). The adjustment steps up/down would give a span of 3 cogs, it would take a bit of time to shift them though.
Take the battery out, operate shifter to use any residual charge and re-fit. This should reset mode. Make sure you are spinning cranks when you are changing.

I have the diagnostic unit but am not in Dublin. I know cyclesuperstore have one.

Cyclesuperstore in Tallaght have a diagnostics tool/Di2 service if you're badly stuck. But if the bike has never had its firmware updated you can turn it into an 11s by adding an 11s derailleur and updating the firmware will deny you that :/

Another thought... make sure the cable going into the rear derailleur is fully seated. If you pull it out and then put it back in you should hear/feel a click. A bad or loose connection will also drain the battery very quickly. I don't know why but I remember reading that somewhere.

You don't actually need to update the firmware to run the diagnostics. It runs them first.

I also think that the latest 11 speed rear mechs have updated firmware pre- installed which stops the mech working when using a 10 speed front mech. Certainly the last one I tried would not work until I plugged in a 11 speed front mech. The mech was brand new and I could tell that the firmware had not been updated but it was a newer version.

The battery holder on the older system is the "brain/ECU" behind the system, not the attached units.

A 10s RD just knows to move as it should versus an 11s RD and the levers/buttons are just that, buttons, telling them to do what they do.

It was the battery holder/brain that Shimano updated/messed with

In short, if you can grab an old "not updated" battery holder then you can revert back to the 10s/11s compatibility.

I'm sorry but if the rear mech has the updated firmware then it does not communicate with the 10 speed front mech and the system will not operate. It will not matter if the battery holder is updated or not (i can check this as i have the sm-pc1e interface and by chance i had the shimano e-tube software installed on two laptops one of which when I first read about this problem I have never updated so it still runs the old version).
Just went and checked carltonbale as I find his info the most up to date, scroll down to bottom of page (12/12/15).
