Restore cut away bog or grow biomass !

    Just wondering what peoples views are on which is better environmentally ( and socially )
    Especially in view of the current flooding -

    It has to be restoring bogs. They act as carbon sinks and flood defences.

    But what do you mean as either/or - you mean on the same land, give the choice?

    Is a cut away bog much of a carbon sink ? And by planting up with willow or alder would you be releasing much of the carbon that remains in situ... would have that soil ( and the carbon it holds) would build up quicker in deciduous forest than a bog -without methane being released ...
