Buying hay

    Hi there. Just went to a guy selling hay. It's very good fine hay around d edges but it's brown in the middle. It's not damp or anything.bone dry just wondering if it would be ok to buy or not

    Is it leafy? Sounds like it heated in its own sap. It will be fine.

    It might have heated in the middle after baling , any sign of mould ? It was a tough year to make hay with the weather so I would expect a few heated .
    Has he one open so you can pull out of the middle to see it ?

    What do you intend feeding it to? If its horses or weanlens then its a no go

    Going feeding it to cows. I have opened one bale and it seems ok. No mould or anything
