hello, I am hoping someone here will have some information on the asbestos levels in artex. The ceilings in my parents house has it, it was build in the late 90's so wondering was it banned by that time?

It's very hard to find info on this subject online.

    thanks

    as said here: http://www.darleypcm.com/blog/asbestosinartexceilingsknowtherisks
and the other 3,000 hits that came up for asbestos in art,
the amount is small, its well bound in the paint

    This is the key fact
Asbestos is only a risk to health when the fibres become air-borne and you breathe them into your lungs, asbestos containing products can remain in properties undamaged without any risk to the health of the occupants.

so as long as its not disturbed no issue

care needed if working with it that involves sanding drilling cutting etc

The ban I believe was 2000.

While not to diminish the risks from working with asbestos: just for a bit of perspective, the artex as is poses no danger, the same cannot be said for diesel particulates in the air.

Please note that any major improvement works or renovations to a house built before 2000 now requires an asbestos report to show that it has been accounted for.
