Injustice: Gods Among Us is a DC fighting game, but some of the content may be inappropriate depending on the age of the young lad.

Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 is another fighting game with half the cast being Marvel characters and with the exception of fantasy violence has no inappropriate content.

Both should be available quite cheap online and both are very good games.

    Here's a couple of trailers:

    Injustice: Gods Among Us
    Superman, Batman, The Flash, etc.
This is made by the guys who make Mortal Kombat, so it leans towards the older audience. It's not gory, but the characters are presented very realistically with the occasional blood splash. It deals with more mature themes in the story mode too.
Still totally fine for young people too, but maybe check a few more videos on youtube to make sure you're comfortable with it!

    Gameplay:

    Story Mode:

    Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3
Iron Man, Captain America, X-Men, Spider-man, etc
This is a far more lighthearted game and focuses more on way over the top comic book lightshows and explosions than realism. It's also got a massive cast of characters so there's bound to be a stack of guys they like to play with.
This is a crossover game though, so half the cast is from Capcom games and the other half Marvel.
