I got a text today saying I'm late with a payment and that I need to pay immediately. This was the first notification that 've received from Irish water.....an email with the bill or the bill in the post prior to the due date would be appreciated......

PS....all previous bills were paid on time and I feel this is a bit heavy handed

secondly the bill is for €47, based on 90 days usage.....is this high for an average house of 2 adults and three young children?

I don't see the need to provide name, address and telephone number....the query is whether a bill of €47 is high, low or average for two adults and three young children?

the other point is that it is unreasonable and heavy handed to send a text requesting immediate payment when I haven't even seen a bill.....or was sent a note saying bill was due. I'm not disputing the bill or the need to pay it, just the manner of communication.

    Hi jrby,

In order to look into your account, and to comply with data protection requirements, we would ask that these details be confirmed so we can ensure everything is in order on your account.

As you have stated you have yet to receive a bill, we will be more than happy to investigate this matter on your behalf.

Regarding your average usage query, a combined charge for both water and wastewater for a 2 person household would hit the cap once a household used more than 70,270 litres during the year. The children's allowance is applied to metered households and is applicable to any child who is aged 17 or under. The children's allowance is 21,000 litres per service per child.

In order for us to determine that these charges are accurate for your account, we recommend your PM your details and we will be more than happy to explain these charges in relation to your own circumstances.

    Kind regards,
    Mairead

all I'm looking for is one of three words......high, low or average.....you shouldn't need any more details other than what i've given you so far to answer that question.

    Hi jrby,

By the information you have stated, €47 euro would be considered low for a 5 person household. However, this can be determined on a case by case basis, so the most accurate results can be found on your account.

If you wish to view your meter readings, we recommend you sign up for an Irish Water online account where you can view graphs of meter readings and determine your average consumption.

If you would like us to look into your account in relation to the fact you have not received your bill, please let us know.

    Kind regards,
    Mairead

    Hi jrby,

As you have now received a meter, you will receive metered bills to your property, which contains details of your meter readings, which should also be available on your online account as a graph once you receive your next bill.

If there is anything else you would like us to look in to, please let us know.

    Kind regards,
    Mairead
