In advace apologies, im sure this has been asked a million times. I need a box that accepts satelite for frieview and Saorview via aerial and one that has 5-7 days schedule for both.

Anyone have recommendations on say a top 3? would prefer to spend under 100euro for something decent.

( ill be clear, havnt got a clue about the difference between Free to Air and Freeview )
Was looking at the Ariva HD 120, is that the best? and does it work with a satelite dish pointed at sky satelite and saorview and have 5-7 day schedule? Also does it have everything in 1 schedule?

Ignoring idiots who comment "far right" because they don't even know what it means

You will need one of the Linux based boxes to get a full 7day EPG for the UK Freesat channels so you are looking at the most basic triple tuner box which is something like the Amiko Alien 2 costing about €150.

Then you can basically go up from there in cost which will give you the same basic features but will be faster and less sluggish.

If I was buying now I would probably go for something like the XTrend 8000 and run Openvix Enigma2 on it but that would set you back about €300.

    Hope that helps...

    To clarify the differences...
Saorview is the Irish channels using a conventional (terrestrial) aerial. It should have a 7 day programme guide.
FreeView is the UK equivalent also using an aerial and only available if you are in range of a UK transmitter, near the border or parts of the East coast. This also has a 7 day programme guide.
Free To Air (FTA) uses a satellite dish and the exact same signals that Sky do for the free UK channels. You will not get the Irish stations for free from this satellite. This is why you need a combo of satellite and terrestrial aerial. Basic FTA boxes only show now/next for satellite channels.
FreeSat is a brand of software that some satellite boxes use to automatically arrange the channels in a certain order. It also provides a 7 day guide and some other bells and whistles. As yet you can not get a combined FreeSat and terrestrial box so you would need a separate Saorview box. Your TV may already have Saorview built in.
If you want a 7 day guide on both terrestrial and satellite you need to go to the more advanced, Linux based, combo boxes.
