I've noticed that it's taking a lot longer to get to top gear lately, it seems that once the gearbox heats up it changes gear a lot smoother and reaches top gear a bit better.

When I'm heading home from work in the evenings I could be gone 2 or 3 miles in the road before it will change into top gear. Has anyone had this problem before and did you end up changing the box?

May just need a fluid and filter change.

I did that about 1000 miles ago, it didn't make any of a difference.

Some auto boxes are very fluid sensitive. Did you use the correct one? How about the torque converter, when you put in d with foot on the brake does the idle drop more than usual? Does it change down as normal?

Ya the correct spec oil was used. I'll try that with the brake in the morning, is the torque converter a common problem is these? The change down seems perfect. The most noticable thing is not changing gear when your trying to accelorate up a hill and being slow to hit top gear when cold. It could take two miles of main road at 55-60mph before it will eventually change gear, sometimes with a slight jerk.

The torque converter on most autos are actually pretty reliable but they can give trouble. I don't claim to be a professional so maybe check out one of the lr forums for more in depth advice. Hope you get it sorted.
