How is it a scam? My physics teacher uses it. She puts up quite a lot of notes, powerpoints and videos of experiments which are really helpful. Anytime I use the notes, ( which I should do more often to be fair :pac: ) I find it great.

I don't see how it could be or is a scam! It's just a useful online facilities for students and teachers to interact with notes, presentations, assignments and grades.

The website/app was a fantastic idea and is working out great imo

well we were told we would get 30% towards the xmas tests in construction for contributing to it. lad came down from university of limerick to ask what we thought of it, I said it was great as we are getting 30%. next day we are told we will get nothing for wasting our time putting stuff up on it. I am really annoyed at this. sorry I mean my teacher scammed me out of 30%. just used the class to test the site for the guy from UL. I feel my teacher took us as fools and used us

In fairness, any issue is with your teacher, not with the site.

When we were interviewed (I presume he was one of the guys who invented it) he asked us would we have gone on it if there was no 30%. I said I wouldn't unless I needed notes off of it, as that would be like studying for an exam where there is no percentage going towards it, it would be just pointless. Before all this I would have said it was a great site though. Now I cant trust my teacher for anything.

edmodo is an American outfit. The guy from UL was probably just doing research for a Masters.
I agree, it is a breach of trust by your teacher to tell you adding work to it counted for marks and then to withdraw those marks.
Did you or anyone from your class let him know what you're feeling about it?

Ya the whole class that contributed is really annoyed. It was a 4th year student studying teaching or something that told us about it all. Our main teacher was out of the room and is now claiming he knew nothing. When we asked about our marks he said, 'if it was on the leaving cert course I might give some marks'. We're trying to study for the leaving and he wastes the class 2 months. Didn't know it was American though.

You could maybe make a deal with your teacher - each take a topic and make notes on it to share with the class, if the notes are good, everyone benefits.

It's no odds to the teacher to mark your test out of original mark plus whatever he allows for the note making. It would encourage people to study and benefit all.

That's actually a good idea, thanks.
