Stopping when wing mirror hit?

Should you stop your car for a wing mirror tip?? I was driving yesterday and a taxi came around a corner and hit my wing mirror. There were cars parked on his side so he over shot them a bit coming onto my side. Heard the bump, and looked in rear view mirror and he was off down the road, and there was another car right up behind me so I went around the corner and pulled in. My wingmirror just popped back out and there's only a a lump of paint off it, nothing I'd fix. I walked back to the corner just in case he turned around because I don't know if there was damage to his and I certainly didn't want him to blame me. A few taxis were hanging around but don't think any were him, I waited a a couple minutes and drove off. I was just a bit worried that he'd turn around, take my reg and claim he had damage, it was my fault etc which is why I stopped and waited.

I've never had a tip before, so I'm still a bit worried but might be overthinking it!??

People should stop, even for a light tip. Its leaving the scene of an accident, which is an offence in itself. Given that he didn't stop, I'd doubt he has any interest in claiming. How could he prove you were even there? DVR on his side would show him leaving his side of the road and given a car was parked on his side, he should have yielded to you.

Frankly I'd be furious if that happened to me, if I was going to repair it or not is irrelevant, I'd expect common decency to prevail and for the other party to at least have a brief conversation about it.

I parked on the angelsea road a while back while in watching a rugby game. Came out and my wing mirror had been mangled, with some swipe marks on the front right wheel arch. I was parked fine, inside the white line.

    1. People drive too quickly in built up areas.
    2. It'll teach me to put my wing mirror in (although judging from the marks, s/he would have hit it anyway, just maybe not so much damage).
    3. 100 to fix.

So yes, I think people should stop. :p
