    Hey All,

Just wanted to post up that had my car stolen on Monday night (7th Dec). It was a Peugeot 207 reg no. 07 C 5496. It was stolen in the Dundrum area. There are about 80,000 km up on the car. If all boardsie's could keep an eye out for it that would be great. Garda reckon that it may be parked up somewhere. You can ring the Dundrum Garda Station if you spot it somewhere on 01 666 5600, or PM me.

    Thanks in advance.

Can't Edit original post for some reason. Should have said that it was stolen in Dundrum, Dublin 14 and it is a 4 door 1.4l petrol.

Colour? Spec? Anything unique about the car even dents or scratches? Was it taken via keys or might there be some damage to it from breaking into it?

The more info you give the better someone has a chance of spotting it

It is black, had a Joie Stages car seat in the back seat and a baby shade in the back left window. Obviously these could be taken out at this stage.

How did they steal it? Burglary and take the keys?

I'll keep an eye out. Bloody scumbags. Coming up to christmas too.

Thanks, for changing the title on original post. If it not too much trouble could you also put Black Peugeot 207, rather than Peugeot 207 as I can't seem to be able to edit posts at the moment.

Thankfully, didn't get into house. Must have broken in but no sign of broken glass or anything on driveway. It is a total head wrecker coming up to Christmas.

Very sorry to hear about your car being robbed OP.

Call all the toll operators and all the shopping centres in dublin. Maybe dublin port as well.

    Hope it turns up.

But they took the keys? Bastards. The reason I'm asking is because I've been hearing of more and more cars with factory immobilisers getting stolen without the keys so was wondering.

No they didn't have the keys.

Has anyone any advice on what to do when car stolen. Do you just leave it to the Garda to look for it or do you do some searching round yourself? Any tips for types of areas to check like car parks etc.

    Thanks in advance

i think in the vast majority of cases, most people who have gotten their car back successfully have done plenty of legwork themselves.

the Gardai are really only going to find it if it's crashed, burnt out or used in another crime.

with a car like that it's hard to understand. most likely stolen for parts perhaps? i doubt it was stolen for a joyride and it's unlikely to be a getaway car etc.

have you contacted your insurance? they probably have some option to keep you going like a few days courtesy car etc.

Yeah, I would love to be able to have a good drive round my whole area. Unfortunately our little fella is fairly sick at the moment and not sleeping so can't get out to search much.

If it has been dumped and is sitting somewhere clamped can you ring up the council to find out?

As was said , the gardai won't find it unless they walk out of the station and fall over it ! Any car I've ever had to recover involved driving around every local estate and known fields they use to joyride . The road I used to live on used to have stolen cars parked up from time to time , they usually park them up outside a house for a few days as they don't really attract attention because people think it's someone in with a neighbour . I wouldn't be familiar with Dundrum so I couldn't tell you where to start looking .

Can't understand how they robbed the car without keys.....was it toed away i wonder or maybe someone had a spare key for it...

By any chance, did you get a copy of your key recently?

Also, call eFlow and check did the car go through any of the tolls since the day it got stolen. If it did then it may give an indication to where abouts in the country it would be.

    Towing it is a possibility alright, though a bit much for what is an average family car. But like I said earlier;

BMW's of a certain era can be "hacked" and keys cloned in under a minute. When BMW finally publicly admitted this, they also pointed out that theirs wasn't the only car company affected. I've personally heard of Audis and Mercs that have been stolen without the keys. Once some clever scum find a way to bypass a particular security set up it's repeatable for all scum and the knowledge spreads rapidly. Certain car models are targeted in ways specific to them. So Car model X has a way to get the windows down easily, it's easy to get into Car model Y via the boot and so on.

Car is in good shape. They took a few things from it but thankfully car itself is not damaged.

Nice to hear a happy ending for a change, where was it found? did the Gardaí of a member of the public find it?

It was parked in a cul de sac not 10 minutes walk from our house. Someone living in the cul de sac rang the Gardaí over the weekend about a car parked in front of their house as they knew it wasn't one of there neighbours.
