Fastway shipping - looking for advice

    Hi guys,
    I'm looking for some advice regarding an online purchase that was delivered incorrectly by Fastway.
    Here’s what happened:
    - I’ve purchased an item online was shipped from the Netherlands; at the time o got the shipping reference I noticed that a small address detail was missing so I suspected that – worst case scenario – it would be returned to the sender;
    - Fastway provided me with their tracking reference and I updated them with my mobile contact in case the delivery guy struggles with my address;
    - According to Fastway website the package was received by somebody of the reception from a company just across my street. I went to speak with the person who got the package(reception) and I was informed that the package was received and addressed to an employee of the company;
    - I called the delivery guy to ask him if any item was on his van under my name and he confirms over the phone that no package was in his van under my name.
    - Called Fastway HQ and asked them to liaise with their regional hub to know what happened.

    So, at the end of the day, if Fastway is not able to find my pack, will they refund me due to incorrect delivery? If not, should I get the refund from the shop due to inaccurate address provided in the package? Worst case scenario, when there is no delivery of goods or services, should the bank somehow cover the lost?

    Again – just looking for some advice – maybe some of you have been through this recently.

    Thank you all

    Fastway have a contract with the company you bought your item from, so if Fastway refund anyone it's them, not you.

    Your best chance is to contact the company where you bought the item, tell them that you've not received it, despite what the tracking says. If they ask any further, confirm what you mentioned above.

    In either case, it is the seller's responsibility to deliver the parcel or compensate you if not delivered (that comes with a proviso of course: that your address given at time of purchase was complete and correct). Depending on whether you mention the address error, or how nice the company is if you do mentioned it, they may refund you or even send the item again.

    So... long story short, 2 different parcels got the same tracking reference, my parcel and the parcel that was delivered to the company just across my street.

    After calling the HQ's for several times, they managed to find my parcel at one of their depots and I got the pack a week after. All ended well fortunately.

    I kinda have mixed feelings about this company, the staff was really helpful, but I think they just need more organization on the way they handle non BAU stuff. Or maybe I was just unlucky this time :)

    Totally disagree, Fastway are by far the worst courier operating here.

    FYP.

    I've always found that if there's any issue with a package, Fastway doesn't care.
    I ordered something and my phone number wasn't on the label, so they couldn't deliver it to me as I have a non-specific address.

    Instead of contacting the company they received the parcel from for more information, they did nothing and it sat in a warehouse for a week.

    I don't think the onus should be on the customer to ensure their parcel is delivered, the delivery company should do everything in their power to deliver to the right person.

    The onus should be on the customer to ensure that their name , address and contact number are on the address label - in my opinion .
