As the title says, are there any other options than taxi/walk to get from laytown railway station to bettystown?

The Bus Eireann 190 periodically runs and the Matthews Coach allows you to pay a 'local fare' - it's either €2 or €4.

Matthews Coaches about every half hour during morning and evening peak times and every hour at other times.

btw- if it's going to be a regular trip the advice to get a bike is sound.

There is a lock-up at the station where you can secure your bike (it's the old waiting room on the northbound track) - if you see the station staff they'll tell you how to go about getting a key. It's free (at least it was when I got mine) - you just have to hand over a tenner as a deposit.

The 190 is a bit more regular than "periodic" would imply.

It's every hour Monday-Friday and every two hours at weekends.

The Bus Eireann 190/a is usually a double deck bus which has a wheelchair space and ramp at the door for ease of use but it would be an idea to ring the bus station in Drogheda to make sure on the day of travel.

ah now, bitter experience teaches you not to rely on the timetable when looking for a 190, especially if you are trying to connect with a train from Laytown ;)

Yes indeed, unfortunately it can be seriously affected by traffic along the route including in Drogheda and also on the roads into Laytown and Bettystown. Still a very important service for schools and other passengers along its route despite its delays and occasional no show.
