The house owner/occupier passed away earlier this year.  I have been told by irish water by 'phone that a yearly fee of €125.00 must be paid although no facilities are being used in the house.  On their website it refers to a fee of €125.00 per annum in respect of landlords whose property is temporarily vacant.  Can you clarify why a fee is charged in the circumstances of a deceased owner/occupier.  Thanks You.

    Regards

    Hi Charlotte,

Thank you for getting in touch and for your query.

Domestic properties that are not permanently occupied will incur water charges if they are connected to both the water and wastewater services, or to a single service.

Unmetered properties incur a charge of 125 euro per year for both water supply and wastewater services and 62.50 euro per year for a single service.

Similarly, metered properties will incur a minimum charge of 125 euro per year for both water supply and wastewater services and 62.50 euro per year for a single service.
The maximum charge for metered properties is 260 euro for both services and 130 euro per year for a single service.

    I hope this information helps.

    Kind regards,
    Aaron
