I have a question? My secondary school lacks facilities and so we don't have any seating area to sit down on during lunch. We previously used classrooms however recently the vice principal and the principle have banned us from sitting in classroom even with teachers permission. I the situation was dealt with badly and I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on the matter about if we are allowed to use classroom for seating if we lack seating provided outside classroom? Links to website would be very helpful.
    Thank You for reading

My school also doesn't have a cafeteria - all the classes are assigned a classroom to have lunch in. The teachers are quite strict about cleaning, each class has to prepare a cleaning rota and if the teacher in the classroom after lunch doesn't think it was done satisfactorily they won't hesitate to call the assigned cleaners back over the intercom to do it again. If the room is left messy for a few days in a row they will also lock us out of the classroom meaning we have to have lunch in the corridors.
It's an annoying situation but I doubt there's any law specifically saying that schools have to provide seating at lunchtime (I can't find anything online anyway). Why did they change the rule? If it was something to do with the classrooms being left in a mess you could get a group of people together to talk to the principal and suggest introducing cleaning rotas and/or a system where you get locked out temporarily like in my school.

Each school will set its own policy on things like this.

As Emer said, if there has been a change of policy recently, there's probably a reason for it, and tackling the cause and trying to work out a compromise in an adult manner is more likely to yield results than getting in a strop about totally non-existant rights. ;)
