Indeed. The radio in my 2008 Ford Focus zetec is starting act the maggot. It changes station continuously sticks on the CD for criac and randomly plays tracks. Goes back to radio and scans stations randomly. Took the radio out checked all the wires and everything seems to be OK visually. Checked various ford forums and nothing like this can be found anywhere. So I'm here asking the question has anyone found an issue like this with their radio? It's the curved 6000cd radio BTW. Thanks in advance.

Is there any chance some sort of liquid was spilt on it? Or maybe something leaked down through the vents above the radio? I think I saw a similar problem once & it turned out someone had spilled some Coke on the dash above & it slowly leaked down & onto the back of the radio, it was shorting the circuit board inside.

Nothing split recently. However I do leave the window down slighty on mild days to air out the car. Perhaps moisture got in this way? What I might try is take the radio out some night and leave it in the house over night. If there is any moisture it should dry out this way.

If you're taking the radio out have a look inside it, you should be able to see any moisture damage on the board.

Your fault is common enough in the 6000 model radio. I have seen it many times and it is repairable. The fault is not caused by spillage .

Oh right. It's one of those top secret fixes then...

Whatever the fault is, it is unlikely to be something you can fix yourself. Best bring it to a local car audio shop & explain to them the problem.

I spend a lot of time trying to solve various problems in customers car stereos. There is no way I give this advice away for free.

There are plenty of guys here who work in the motor trade and give out advice for free.

All I see from you is just advertising your own services. Why do you have your phone number in your location?

    "Location: Loughrea, Co. Galway...087 237 4815"

People aren't here looking for paid solutions. They are looking for ways of fixing issues themselves otherwise we would all be going to dealerships and getting it fixed.

Here here, well said. Making vague comments and then expecting to be paid for breadcrumb information is really a sound business model. Surely this is clear touting for business? Mods?

Anyway I've had enough ****in on about this as there is clearly no information forth coming. I'll go else where thanks all the same.

Why are you even commenting as you have nothing pro active to offer regarding this problem, it would however, appear you are basically touting for business via boards and not pm?

Anyway, its all yours. One thing is for sure you'll not be getting my money.

I have kinda the same issues with mine, it thinks there is a cd in it when there's not and constantly drops from the radio stations to phone mode even though no phone is connected, it's the second time I had the 6000 unit and had issues, first time I couldn't get it fixed and had to buy a new third party unit, it seems like they are just prone to these issues and you're better off replacing them.

There's a thread about this issue on another forum.

    https://www.avforums.com/threads/ford-focus-and-visteon-6000cd-problem.1212795/

Apparently people have been able to fix it by installing a 1kΩ resistor between the B5 and B2 pins on the connector for the radio.

Might be worth a read. I'm not sure if this switching to PHONE mode is similar to OP's problem though.

Cheers for that, sorry I realise now I wasn't clear in my post, the first unit I had did have the exact same issues as the OP and I couldn't get it fixed, sorry about not being clear, I only realise now I left that out.

Thanks to all pro active info here. I'll look for a replacement or a third party replacement in the new year.
