    Hi all,

Myself and herself are going to book 3 nights away in Copenhagen (can't find any flights/hotels cheaper at this stage).

Has anybody been there and what would they recommend to see (particularly at Christmas) and how to be money Savvy (as I hear eating & drinking is expensive there).

Anyone take a trip to Malmo in Sweden or see the Mermaid statue?

We are thinking of staying in the Tivoli hotel about 15 minutes walk from Tivoli Gardens

Copenhagen will be a great spot for Christmas. Not a bad area to stay in but not much in the vicinity. Personally I always prefer to stay a little more centrally or alternatively the Island hotel which is a little closer to Dybbølsbro station. It will be cold so at the end of a day you don't really want to have a long walk from your metro. Plus the Island hotel is next door to a shopping center and the Tivoli will be full of kids.

The day trip to Malmo is a must. The train goes from the Airport train station from memory which is close enough to the city. Try and avoid Malmo on a Sunday as when I've been there it's been dead. Maybe different coming up to Christmas I don't know.

The little mermaid is well.. just a statue of a Mermaid it didn't do much for me to be honest. Copenhagen is a great city for just walking around though it's a beautiful city too. As for eating and drinking, yes drinks can be expensive although I didn't find food so much. Avoid Irish bars are they are the greatest rip offs of the lot. There will be Christmas markets which I found quite good and reasonable. The Aquerium is also worth a look.

    Thanks Strumms great advice!!

We are also thinking of the Mayfair and Imperial hotels also.

Has anyone any reviews on those?

I agree that the Tivoli, while It is not a long walk to the Gardens and the Stations, feels a bit far out and removed from the centre.
You can see the Mermaid statue from one of the boat tours, although I am not sure if they run those, this time of year.
The Lego shop can be fun, if you have kids in your family you buy presents for !

The Stella cafe bar (look it up on Google maps) does nice food at not particularly exorbitant prices.

Apparently it is worth getting a train/bus to Malmö while in Copenhagen.

Anybody know how best to do this while mixing the right amount of value and sightseeing?
