I have a rescue cat - my first ever - since last year. We were abroad recently for many weeks, and what to do with our cat was a huge worry. I found THE MOST AMAZING woman in Kilcullen, that has a smashing little (3 units) cattery, that is just gorgeous. She is so kind and caring, an animal lover, and my scaredy cat was so content and happy there - I got updates and photos several times/week - the cat even put on weight while there (spoiled rotten to be honest) - and the cattery lady even took the cat to the vet THREE times, with a cut on her toe (which she got on the morning I brought her to the cattery) So! I cant recommend this cattery highly enough. The only problem is that its in Kilcullen Co Kildare - just past Naas - which isnt really a problem since it would be half an hours drive maybe? But SO WORTH it for the excellence of this place! I can PM you details if you are interested

Thanks it's a bit far down for me at this time but possibly will look at her when Summer holidays come around. There doesn't seem to be much regulation in the area of Catteries in Ireland, I'm in two minds about basically caging the cat for 4-5 nights but the alternative is to leave her outside with a neighbour leaving out food and water. It's giving me nightmares.

I was considering letting my friend come feed our cat while we were away, leaving a window open so she could get in to one of the worksheds. We had a trial run for an overnight... a wild cat got into the work shed and wrecked havoc on our cats food/bowls/bedding!!! Total disaster. Our cat didnt go back to the washhouse since. She had some cuts - assume there was a fight!!!

I think having your cat in a 'cage' = cattery = is the best option if the cat cant stay in your house - at least its safe! And in this horrible weather too! Could you leave the cat indoors, and your neighbour come and feed the cat every day, and change the litter box??

This place in Lucan looks lovely, I've never personally used it as it was booked out last time I was going away but I spoke to the owner and she was lovely and I wouldn't have had any qualms about leaving my cats there if she'd had the space.
