I opened a bank account with Ulster Bank in the North completely different to one I have here. Think you need to be a resident for the others ones but not sure

Also have a NI Ulster Bank account (Sterling), very easy to set up via email & post (once you're a verified Ulster Bank IE customer). It does have an Irish Sort Code (although the number block is reserved for NI accounts), not a UK one though.

If you have an android device you might want to see if www.monese.com is fulfilling your banking requirements as it offers bank account feature with easy opening of an account.

Yeah, Monese is the simplest and quickest way to open a GBP account. You will get a card included too and an account with free maintenance.

Down side is a 0.5% FX fee (not huge but not free) and only 5 free international wires per month. Also, no standing orders nor direct debits yet but will be available soon.

Nice, So the only charges you would have to pay would be for FX, and more than 5 wire transfer /m ?

Yes and the FX charge is relatively speaking low.

You could combine monese with revolut to avoid fx charge on international transfers.
