Virgin completes acquisition of TV3 as outgoing CEO David McRedmond confirms departure by end of the year.

The company was bought by Virgin Media's parent group, Liberty Global, in July in a deal worth up to €87 million.

At the time, Virgin Media Ireland was known as UPC Ireland but has since been rebranded.

I wonder where the 176 million went.

Interesting, it explains all the Virgin Media ads on TV3 & 3e!

I wonder if 3e will get a rebrand to Virgin One, there use to be a Virgin One in the UK, before Sky bought the Virgin Media UK content devision, and had to rebrand to Pick Tv. It could certainly make sense for Liberty to have their own branded channel again perhaps like Virgin One to compete with Sky 1, and perhaps sell it back into the UK market.

we'll have to wait and see I guess

Pick TV was actually a rebrand of Sky 3.

    Sky Atlantic replaced Virgin 1

well whatever it really doesn't matter what rebranded where, and anyway pick tv, is a free to air channel in the UK, unlike Sky Atlantic which is a pay channel on sky only, so it's more likely that Pick TV replaced Virgin 1 than Sky Atlantic on the free to air platform.

anyway it doesn't matter the detail on that - could we see a 3e rebrand perhaps, to Virgin 1?

that's actually not accurate - it was Virgin 1, that became Pick Tv when Sky purchased what was Virgin Media's Tv arm (originally Flextech Television, owners of Bravo, Living & later after Virgin buying added Virgin 1) when Sky purchased the channels of Virgin Media they no longer had the rights to the Virgin name, hence Pick TV replaced Virgin 1 on Freeview in the UK. Sky Atlantic was never on freeview or freesat it's an exclusive SKY TV channel for Sky Customers!

Did we need to drag up a four month old thread to nitpick
