Feel like a complete loser

Ok first off, I know I could be in a lot worse position and I am very grateful that I'm not, everyday I wake up and think about how lucky I am...but at the same time, I can't help but feel like a complete loser.

I'm 26 and back living with my Dad and I'm unemployed. I don't qualify for social welfare as I failed my dissertation for my Masters degree and therefore still qualify as a student until I resubmit and pass my dissertation. My education was in psychology, a truly fascinating field and the work experience I had with helping vulnerable people is very special and rewarding...but jobs in this line of work are fiercely competitive and few and far between.

I know I shouldn't compare myself to others, but my twin brother is absolutely killing it. He's working as an architect in the UK, getting paid amazingly and is living with his girlfriend, renting their own place.

Whereas I'm unemployed, failed my MSc, in Ireland, clueless about what to do career-wise, living with my Dad, single and broke.

I really feel like I'm the fu*k up brother/son...my brother/Dad are too nice to say it, but I know they're thinking that too.

I'm trying to stay disciplined and figure out how I can develop myself and improve my situation, but it's very discouraging as I feel I have to change immensely and don't know where to start.

I keep thinking of just fecking off abroad and teaching English or doing some humanitarian aid...but deep down, I know that's just escaping my situation and not fixing/changing it.

I don't know what I'm looking for, just needed to rant I guess. Thank you for reading everyone :)

You're not your brother. Carve your own path. Decide what you want in life and work out a timeline to reach it - at least you have the buffer of living at home right now so less financial commitments.

Also, have a chat with your Dad and tell him where you're at and assure him this is temporary. And forget your MSc if it's not something you want to do.

Do some charity work in a field you think you could be of benefit. Am doing voluntary work 6 years now, work, have family. It is so rewarding to help people in dire need. I linked a family with specialists and kept in touch with the family on a weekly basis and about 4 months, the mum sent me a message to say that for the first time in years, the darkness she lived under was fading. I am just an normal mum so experience but sometimes a little text to say hi, thinking of you, can make all the difference to someone.

Ok so you have to repeat some work, but you have a great background, that many charities would jump on.

My brother has the big house, fancy job etc but that is his journey in life, money is not my goal, I prefer to work from the heart, do what your heart tells you. xx
