Where to get a bag weighed?

Hey,
Im flying ryanair dublin to amsterdam next week and I need to get a medical waiver form from ryanair for a respiratory device i need to sleep, man on the phone was quiet helpful but says i need to get the weight of the bag before he can give me the waiver.

what would be the easiest way to get this bag weighed? My dad told me dealz do scales for luggage that you hang the bag from but went in there and was told that its only part of their summer stock. Where else could i get one of these, or is there anywhere i could go to with the bag for them to weigh it for me?

Had thought about standing on the bathroom scales and then picking up the bag and noting the difference in weight, but im not sure how accurate this method might be.

Can you put the bag itself on the bathroom scales? If it's a digital scales it should be fairly accurate even if you do stand on it then get off and stand on it holding the bag.

Most post offices have an electronic scales in the customer area that should handle up to 10 Kg or so. How big is the bag?

You could also try a Tesco automated check-out. If you scan a legitimate item, then pop your bag onto the packing area instead of the item you scanned, the bag's weight will be displayed in the lower left corner of the display vs the expected weight.

Most Dunnes have a rack with assorted travel paraphernalia, such as the strappy scales that you can weigh a bag with. They are usually near the check out, or at the luggage section. If you are anywhere near the airport, the nearby hotels have scales in the lobby that you can weigh a bag on. But overall, I agree with the above poster, who suggested you just stand on a bathroom scales with the bag & take a before and after reading.

Maybe see if the specs for the make & model are online – they might give the weight.

Step on a normal scales holding the bag and measure your weight. Step on the scales without the bag and measure your normal weight. Then subtract one against the other and it will give you the weight of the bag.

This very idea came in to my head for the OP when I saw the guy doing it in that SuperValu Christmas ad with the turkey

This method was mentioned in the OP's original post but the OP doubted how accurate it would be.

I have found that using this method to weigh an item often doesn't work, because of the inaccuracy of normal household scales. I find stepping on my scales twice in the space of a few minutes, I sometimes get different results even when I haven't added or removed clothing or whatever - there's often a difference of several hundred grams. So if the item is fairly light (say 2 kilos), you'd sometimes get a result of 1.2 kilos and sometimes a result of 2.8 kilos.

I always weigh my suitcase by putting it on the bathroom scales. If it's a small/light thing then use kitchen scales. I don't think the hangy scales from dealz are any more accurate than bathroom scales.
