Joe/Her.ie, the Lad Bible, etc keep popping up on my Facebook newsfeed despite the fact I've unliked them all. Have people been dumbed down so much that they happily consider this as 'news'? Since when does a handful of tweets about an incident amount to a news story?

They get their stuff from AskReddit and TIFU subs on Reddit and any particular thread here that gains traction.

Lad Bible just steals all around them without crediting the sources.

Garbage, the whole lot of them.

Clickbait and copypasta is the main reason (well, one of them) I no longer have a faecesbook account. *adjusts fedora*

It's the content that they know readers want to see- the 'feel good' stuff that isn't news but is trending. And society today feeds off it and shares it which in turn makes it more popular and is in other sites and becomes a vicious cycle of claptrap cr@p.
