headspace is great as it really encourages mindfulness.

I work in SF and my company are massively into mindfulness meditation, and it really works. Whenever we have a management meeting, the first thing we do is a "3 center" check in following a guided mindfulness meditation. It really sets the tone.

I complete a 3 center check in every morning before starting work and again, it really focusses me on the day. Head, Emotions, Body. You don't try and "fix" anything, you just recognize the thoughts and feelings and then write them out/think about them - usually you find yourself "fixing" things in the day - ie if you're frustrated about something at work or home, once you recognize it - you can take steps to fix it.

I have low level anxiety issues, and ever since I took up mindfulness (and stopped drinking) i have found my anxiety is completely under control, because I find myself dealing with what makes me anxious

    +1 for the app/website headspace.

The subscription is kind of a rip off, but the 10 day trial gives you enough of the basics skills/knowledge to be able to go off and meditate on your own. You can redo the trial as often as you want as well, in case you forget anything.

I started in June (doing 10 mins every morning), now I'm doing half an hour every morning and would be lost without it.

Give headspace a go, if you like it then keep at it, if you don't then no big deal; it's only 10 days :)

Btw, a good YouTube video is by the channel Actualized.org, the vid is titled "the no bull**** guide to meditation"...or words to that effect. He hits the mark pretty well, I think. Well worth a look too. :)

Well it helped me get through a pretty stressful time in my life and I think I've developed new skills to deal with stress and general unpleasantness. Headspace is 10 mins a day, so hardly any commitment. The yearly subscription cost me 70€ or something which I thought was a bargain for what I think of as a kind of mental gym.

    Mod Note
Sorry OP but this forum is for issues of a personal nature, not so much about how to learn to do meditation or similar. Suggest you try maybe the Health forum or just google it but as this isn't a Personal Issue I am closing this thread.
