    Hi all,

Just looking for a bit of guidance. Recently got into road cycling and loving it.

Had the lend of a road bike and now time has come to purchase my own.

Looking at the BTW scheme so under E1000.

Out of all the many many options, i have chosen 2.

    1) Boardman team carbon:
    http://www.halfords.ie/cycling/bikes/road-bikes/boardman-road-team-carbon-bike

    2) Canyon Endurace 6.0

    https://www.canyon.com/en/road/endurace/2016/endurace-al-6-0.html

The Boardman has a full carbon frame and the frame seems to be really rated by reviews I have read. I know there are drawbacks with regard to its specs but I was thinking that these are parts that i could, over time, upgrade as i felt i needed to.

The Canyon comes with a much better spec and is a completed ride. I probably wouldn't have to upgrade anything on it.

Are both of these bikes among the best around for sub E1000? Any comments or opinions welcomed.

    Thanks.

Personally I would go with the Canyon. Seems better spec and lighter frame.

    Alu bike with 11sp 105 v carbon bike with 10sp 105/tiagra mix?

I'd personally go for the Boardman.

Personally I would go with the Canyon. Unless you specifically have a hankering for Carbon, the Canyon looks like a better bike all round.

Just checked waiting times for Canyon....March 2016!

Have also been looking at Cannondale Synapse Alloy 2015

    http://www.evanscycles.com/products/cannondale/synapse-alloy-105-disc-2015-road-bike-ec071021

Dont think i can wait until March for a bike!

Canyon are good value and I was going to go for one until I found out I can't get one here (I'm in Zurich and there's some copyright drama with a same named bike company in Switzerland), so I've ordered a Rose. Great web site that lets you customise the bike and great customer service - just try and stick to your original budget if you can ( I didn't...)

Are you able to get the canyon on the bike to work scheme? I thought it had to be done through a bike shop and they dont sell in any physical bike shops.

    Hi Usheeen,

I asked about that at work today and was told should be no problem once I have an order form and an invoice from Canyon. The woman in our company is well up on this as she is a biker herself so I'm hoping she is correct although I thought the same as yourself.

I'm hoping she is right as I think il get the Canyon AL 6. Even if I have to wait till March.

Even March is a very optimistic date, they are a bit up the creek at the moment on delivery dates

    Have you tried the outlet?

    https://www.canyon.com/en-ie/factory-outlet/#category=road-bikes

They have some in there but I don't know your size. They add-subtract from that outlet on a daily basis! I got a bike from there back in the day.

If your company allows it... yes. I have done a bike to work with canyon. they are registered for Irish VAT and they send you an invoice, you get your company to ship the loot and then it is between you and the company to sort out the rest. If it is more than the BTW Limit you just pay the excess.

    That's how I did it.

As for the Swiss thing... they were using https://www.purecycling.ch/ to get around that issue at one stage.

Canyon are a bit of a disaster at the mo to due to moving to a new factory and making a COMPLETE hash of their new mainframe system. I think their IT testing went something along of the lines of "Will this work OK?" "Yeah, shure it will be grand, yer man who sold it to us told me so"

OP, You could try http://www.radon-bikes.de/en/bikes-2016/roadbike/roadbike-training/r1/r1-105/ though that Canyon Endurace is very well rated and has an 11-32 on the rear, which is handy for the steeper climbs.
