    Hi,
I have a cheap Planet X rain jacket that I bought a few years ago. Its a light grey jacket made of a rubbery stretchy fabric but it's very comfortable and has always worked great. I'm looking to replace it but I don't like the non-stretch stiff type jackets.
Can anyone recommend a good replacement.

Castelli Gabba long sleeve. End of.

Thanks folks. I think the Castelli sizing might be a bit trim on me. Need to keep peddling.
I'll check out Galibier. I hadn't heard of them before but they look good.

I wouldn't consider a Gabba a rain jacket really either. It's a waterproof long sleeve jersey, which offers moderate rain resistance and good breathability. If it pours down, you'll be soaked. And upkeep of the gabba is a pain in the arse sometimes. It's picky about how you wash it, which you'll need to do frequently enough.

At least this is my experience of my Gabba 2. I like it, but you're better off seeing it as more a jersey than a jacket.

I've never washed mine since getting it 18 months ago. I wouldn't wear it at a social occasion but it looks clean and is as water resistant as when I got it.

Mine just stinks after a while. But was amazing when I got it, and seemed to lose some of its waterproof-ness after a while without washing, then it was washed and it made it worse. After talking with Castelli I washed it in Nikwax (SP?) and it has brought it back to some degree.

There's plenty of people who have similar issues as far as I've researched too.

What about wearing a gabba under a rain jacket such as the Galibier foul weather
Would this combination work well as they are both breathable?

Its quite possible you would cook yourself from the inside out.

I have been hmmming and hawwing about a proper rainjacket for the last few weeks and cant make my mind up between the Galibier Mistral and DHB eq2.5 on Wiggle.
The DHB gets serious good reviews.

Looks a bit flappy to me.

I got sorted with a Santini H2O long sleeve jersey and a new Hardshell rain jacket that packs up small. Looks like a good combination for what I need

I went for the Galibier Tourmalet good value and can't fault it and iv had it out in all weathers over the last few weeks
The sizing is a bit tight may be go up a size if you don't want a snug fit

Look at "Climb & Conquer" jacket from a company called Stolen Goat. I got one recently. Sizing more generous than Castelli and the waterproofing is part of the fabric so not affected by washing. Kept me dry so far in some terrible weather. some reviews online also.
