I am on the way to becoming a solicitor. The current firm I'm with are doing OK. Things are definitely picking up. When I qualify I'll be lucky to be on 35k. However if things are to keep rising steadily what would a solicitor with 8-10 years for example be on? 70-80k?

Why not go out on your own?

I wouldn't have the contacts or financial backing unfortunately. In saying that, I am not totally aware of the financial costs of setting up on your own.

Most recruitment companies do salary surveys.

    Here's Brightwater for example http://www.brightwater.ie/docs/default-source/salary-surveys/salary-survey-2015.pdf?sfvrsn=2

You can develop your own contacts by carrying out voluntary work and generally getting involved in the community through sports (golf, GAA, rugby), etc. It's like having a second, full time, unpaid job but it can be done if you are interested in making contacts. It's easier said than done.

You can also find out the costs of loan interest, rent, insurance, overheads, wages and salaries.
