F1 2016 Predictions Thread

Well, the 2015 season has just finished, the prizes handed out, and everyone is settling down for Christmas. Time to start thinking about 2016!

Last year there weren't many pre-season predictions (other than the odd one about McLaren winning a race and Ferrari being nowhere...oops) so let's have a predictions thread we can look back on in a year's time to see how wrong we might have been.

So, copy and paste and fill in some answers And if a mod could lock this thread at the end of December before any car launches we'll see just how far off the mark we are.

Hamilton, Rosberg, Vettel. I know it's a bit safe but I think Hamilton is on a roll, and that Mercedes will be hard to beat again.

Palmer...as I'm not sure what other rookies there are.

Force India, in a good way.

I'm going to say Renault returning to form and winning a race or two either in their own car or in a Red Bull.

Disappointment of the year?
I think Carlos Sainz and Max Verstappen are going to have a much quieter year this year.

Toro Rosso. Verstappen has set such a high standard that any problems will be pounced on very quickly. Also can see Red Bull and Force India and possibly Sauber and Mclaren being better from the start of the season next year so it could be tougher to pick up points.

Kimi. Think expectations are low for Honda and Renault so its difficult to say one will be disappointed with their performance

For me, Rosberg, Hamilton, Vettel. After that, maybe Bottas or Massa from Williams. You can't ever discount Williams IMO.:)

Anyway, top 3 will be the same in the driver's and constructor's. McLaren will do well to fluke a podium.

Very dull & boring but seen nothing in testing to indicate any other results. Toto Wolff has came out and said the Merc's can be on different strategies this year and will be driver dictated to a higher degree. That could lead to one of two mistakes from Hamilton if he gets narky being behind Rosberg but even then he should have his measure.

2. Ferrari
3. Red Bull

1 & 2 are nailed on, Williams prob the favorites but unless they have changed their overly conservative outlook then Red Bull could pip them by the end of the year. I expect Williams to start the better & Red Bull to come on strong late.

Rookie of the year?

Wehrlein vs Palmer, chances are Palmer will score some points but how he gets on against Magnussen will define this battle. If he holds his own he will be rookie of the year, if he gets well beaten then it will be Wehrlein by default. Haryanto will last as long as his budget covers the cost of damage caused, which may not be long. Expect him to be replaced by Rossi at some point.

Surprise of the year?

Haas to outscore Manor, Sauber, Toro Rosso.

Disappointment of the year?

A toss up here between McLaren plodding around in midfield at best for the majority of the season & Williams throwing away a potential race win or two not taking a risk.
