Will marts turn away weanlings with 6 inches of a horn either side?

Also neighbour got bullocks from a shed turned away from factory last week. I saw them. They were dirt score 4 at the very worst. Are they getting more strict.

Yeap they will not accept those weanlings.

Our mart pens horned cattle off to one side. Then being them up in their turn and sell them.

I hate To see horned stock on the mart. We don't even bid on them.

All the marts clearly say no horned cattle and down my end not accept as illegal; might get away if just butts but not 6 inches. See HSA below on horned cattle assume would breach HSA and invalidate mart insurance. On dirty cattle know lads working in factory and factory strict on dirty cattle as vets and factory themsleves not want EColl contaimation etc. Dirty cattle will not get in; now they could if stuck hose them themselves but doubt that will happen that often. Must ask one lads if it does ever.

    Ballianasloe Mart -

    "Horned Cattle:
The Mart cannot sell horned cattle despite a period of absolution before and during the local elections. As a mart we have decided that we will not operate the option of singularly penning horned cattle and selling them like the old style fair."

Others I know the same. Not at them often as use an agent to buy for me. AIBP where I know lads working are strict on dirty cattle.

I didn't think horned cattle were that much of an issue. It's not hard when the vets out to nip them off. If I seen an animal I liked horns or no horns it wouldn't worry me.

Ahh there's plenty if stock about not to be bothered with them. Was in Ballybay a few weeks ago and an animal had broken off a horn in a pen and it looked like a slaughterhouse floor. It's not right to inflict such suffering on animals. It's not the first time I've seen it either.

We don't buy in that much stock so it's easy not to bother with them or the €10/head down the line to skull them.
