VRT Invoice query

    Hi

I purchased my car on finance in the UK in 2007. The finance is paid now (completed in 2012).

I haven't got the original sales invoice and am trying to register my car here in Ireland as this is now where i am living.

I am in the middle of getting the VRT exemption but was going to pay and claim this back....

I have an account statement showing the original purchase date and a list of the monthly payments.

I also have a finance agreement from 2010 when i refinanced the remaining balance into a new agreement.

Will either of these count as an invoice?

I thought that account statement would as it has the purchase date and total to pay on it, however we are unsure because it just shows total cost not broken down to cost before vat and then the vat charge?

    Hopefully someone can help?

    Thanks!

far as I know an invoice would only be needed if you were an Irish resident bringing in a car you just bought.

Yes I agree. They wont want paperwork for 2007, the V5C will show when it was purchased and that will be enough I judge. They only want receipts for a car just bought to check if a penalty for late VRT is payable.

Proof of ownership and residency is all you need.

The V5, and bank statement utility bills etc to confirm your status, you will find the staff helpful when you visit your local NCT/VRT office.
