I've been on the lookout for a new bike for a while now, and I like the sounds and spec of the Cannondale Synapse. Problem is, the one I really like the look of seems hard to find.

What bike shops stock Cannondale? I tried Cyclesupertore but they didn't have the one above.
Worse again, does anyone know the spec of this one? I know that sounds crazy, just wondering is the frame colour and wheels the main difference to say this:
Cannondale Synapse SM 105 5 Road Bike 2015

The bike in the picture is the Synapse carbon Ultegra (disc)

Each model comes in a different colour. I'm going to buy the alloy version next year and get either the Tiagra or 105 version (I prefer the 2015 Tiagra colours more than the 105 colours)

Any shops in Ireland stock them?

I have that bike but with Ultegra Di2 (rip and replace from the shop I got it from). So green and Di2.

It's fast, smooth and comfy. Doesn't feel great climbing out of the saddle, and the disc brake setup (probably) makes it a bit rattly at the front end.

If it wasn't my commuting bike I wouldn't have bothered with the disc brakes.

Is it the taller headtube that doesn't make it feel great while climbing?

Surely there should be no rattling from the front brakes?

I've no idea. I have it pretty slammed.

I'm not sure it's from the rotors/calipers, more likely from the cabling.

I have the 2015 Synapse Ultegra Carbon model. It's the same as OP pic except with calliper brakes. That's the 2016 model where they've moved to disc. I'm delighted with it. Light, stiff, comfortable and fast. It really is a bike for all occasions.

I'm surprised cycle superstore said they don't have the 2016 Ultegra model. They did in October when I bought mine. In fact I got a great discount as they were bringing in 2016 models and wanted to get rid of 2015 models before the move to a new premises. Can they not order it in for you?

360 cycles in Clontarf stock Cannondale and had some Synapses when last in (although didn't register specs)

Not quite. The 2015 Synapse range also had disc models, as mentioned by others the original pic is the 2015 Synapse Ultegra Carbon Disc. I bought one at the beginning of this year, fantastic bike.

If you go to the Cannondale website there's a dealer locator, enter your address and it will throw up a map showing shops in your area. I think the 2015 Ultegra disc version might be hard to find at this stage but worth ringing around. I have seen the 2015 Ultegra rim brake version available at a discount to make way for the 2016 models. If it's like last year those should be available in the shops from around the end of January.

Bought a 2015 tiagra alloy synapse with disc wheels from Evans cycles in UK for €844 during the week, any reviews of it ive seen have been good, il upgrade a few bits on it and use it as new winter bike. I have heard all good stuff about cannondales and I have a Caad8 already so Id recommend them. Synapse is really well regarded i would say U would be happy with any of the synapse bikes disc or calliper

As that's a 2015 model and was a very popular bike it might be a bit harder to get now. Do you know what size you might need ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,842 ✭✭✭roosterman71

    Probably a large
I don't mind if its the 2015 model. Not made of cash! My main requirement is min 105s, plus carbon. That would be a significant upgrade on the current rothar

I like the look of those Synapses. Looked at some here a few months ago, but like everything else in Switzerland, they were eye-wateringly expensive.

Dropping down again to 105 with the same paint job and going from aksium to RS010 wheels brings price down to €1500-1600

Obviously you might be able to visit Dave Kane cycles in Belfast for a test ride or for servicing depending on your own location only 56cm or 61cm left though

Bought the alloy 105 version of the Synapse from Dave Kane in 2008. Great bike and excellent service. At the time sterling was weak and it worked out about 20% cheaper than buying in Dublin.
