Does anyone know why Virgin Media broadband drops out at 12 midnight for approx 1 minute ? Has anyone else had this happen . This happens to my connection nearly every single night recently.

Its annoying if you are watching a streamed film !

    Dak

Sounds to me like a timeout setting somewhere in the router....

Have a look for a timeout setting and bump it from 5000 to 9999 and should cut it out...

Thanks ! I'll try that this evening when I go home. I just got a new Virgin Media router a few weeks ago and its probably that as I never noticed it happening previously.

This has been happening to me for a few weeks now! I'm quite glad I'm not alone. I have a lot of issues with maintaining connection with UPC anyway.

Networks operating BT kit did and possibly still do a mass release at 23:59 nightly. With pppoe this mean 40-70 seconds of downtime.

I've never heard of that on HFC here though. I'm sure the CMTSs could be set to, but I've no.idea why they would. Its possible whatever tweaking they did that accidentally broke bridging has also brought this into effect(that was 3-4 wks ago).
