Today I got a phone call from your representative demanding payment.  This is the second intimidating and bullying phonecall I got from your Company.  I got the first about a month ago when the girl threatened to add another 60 euro to the bill if it wasn't paid by the end of the year.  Todays phonecall was equally rude and aggressive.  I do not want any further phonecalls from your Company, I will not be paying any water charges.

What happens if someone doesn't pay?

    Hi crazygeryy,

    Thanks for your query.

Late payment charges apply where any amount is left outstanding on your Irish Water account for 12 months and where a payment plan has not been set up or the terms of a payment plan are not being met. Please click here for more information.

The late payment charges are not a contractual condition, but rather are statutory penalties. They are set out in Section 4 of the Water Services Act 2015, and so customers do not need to be notified in advance in order for the penalties to apply.

More information on the late payment charge can be found in Section 4 here.

    Kind regard,
    Kim

It's simple, don't give them your phone number

I just received an equally rude & threatening phone call at work from what of your representatives.  I was informed that the call was being recorded on her side, however she then told me I was not allowed to record the call from my side.  Her manner was in my opinion rude in that she did not give me a chance to speak at several points in the conversation.  She also informed me that it was a "fact" that Irish Water was an independent utility the same as the ESB or the Tv licence but that IW were being very nice in that "they were not going down the route" of cutting off customers with outstanding bills.  When I asked her if this was inaccurate and that she was in fact legally not allowed do this she had no answer for me.

The Irish Water reps have A LOT of patience. I can't begin to imagine the level of crap ye have to deal with every day. Some of the fools are out to start a fight from the very first second.

    Happy Christmas
