Renault Clio Electric Relay

She who must be obeyed came in the other evening and announced that the headlights won't turn off.

After a few trials and failures Mr. Google was consulted. Looks like an under bonnet relay has singed and become faulty.

Identified the particular one and shot off to the Renault dealer. "One headlight relay please 2007 Clio III 1.2"

an no.... you can't just buy one relay - you must buy the fuse board. And get it programmed in...

    Total cost.............................................................€435.00.

I could get a new car for that...

The dismantlers seem to be out of fuse boards for this never mind a simple relay.

Now short of wiring up a simple switch to turn off the lights manually after they've been turned off manually if you know what I mean, has anyone any ideas for me to get hold of the offending part?

If it is an actual relay open it up and clean the contacts with a bit of emery paper.

If you can unplug the relay you can replace it in any auto factors or breakers yard ?

I was at renault main dealers who find it hard to even identify it .....

It is my opinion that the likes of halfords or consort will be in the same boat but no harm in trying.
    Thanx

The headlight relay may be soldered onto the multifuction control module, whaich are infamous for causing all sorts of issues as well as non starts. If you can identify which one it is, you can desolder it and solder in a new one available online.
