Interesting, Ireland is quite high but it's hardly a bad place at all. In 2014 we were ranked #1. I've lived in Dublin, I know some areas have serious crime issues but I never thought it was this bad?

The internet: Where my anecdote about Mary's brother's wife's goldfish's previous owner proves your statistics wrong.

Seems right. Maybe ye cant see it due to been immune to it. Ireland is a violent place. And no amount of sticking head in sand and hoping it will go away will achieve anything.

Its a discussion that needs to be had.

And furthermore the justice industry and the assorted hangers on needs a good long hard look at itself. Most of those benefiting from the justice industry wont live in areas where johnny and his 80 previous convictions are causing trouble.

Ah shure johnny has hard a hard life, and Judge Jackazz gives him sympathy. SYMPATHY MYARSE.
Judge Jackazz knows that johnny will be back with another case in a while, and never mind about Johnnyboy, what about all his family and friends. Repeat business.... (the cornerstone of any business)

So the judge and the other assorted hangers on all win because Johnny and friends are scumbags.

So, Johnny while he is a scumbag, is actually keeping the wheels of the justice industry going. He is giving gainful employment to those wonderful civil servants that need it. Never mind that Johnny was a complete terror in his neighborhood. That he beat an 80 year old cripple to half dead. or that he stole from shops around the place, etc.

trickle down economics 101. Here ends todays lesson.

The difference here is that most of the crime is committed by those in power.

is there any irish website that has all the courtcases of the country documented. Itd make great reading on these cold nights!!
Kinda like comedy, thrillers, murder, suspense, fantasy all rolled into one website. Might be better than getting stuck on joe.ie ha

No violence is ok obviously but Ireland really isn't a violent place overall. Colombia - now that's a violent place. Ireland has a noticeable element of scummy shyte-bags for sure though (and a difficult upbringing is no excuse - although it's probably a reason a lot of the time; as in, if they had a better upbringing they wouldn't have turned out the way they did) as do most anglophone countries it seems. But I don't think exaggerating the extent of it helps any more than sticking heads in the sand about it.

And as I always say on threads like this. Thats another countries problem. NOT MINE. Colombia doesnt give two sh1tes about crime in Ireland or elsewhere.
Why should we care about their crime rate.

Instead of saying at least irelands not like Colombia.

Why dont you say why cant irelands crime rate fall.
Why is there a lack of respect for gardai. IS it because scummers know they can take the pish, and still get out in time for the burger dinner you more than likely paid for.
Why is it I could walk around US city Ghettos during the day and not get bothered, yet walk down main st of any decent sized town in ireland and get eyeballed by some 5 ft nothing scummer at 2pm.

tldr start asking simple questions about crime and you get simple understandable answers. No vested interest bs waffelology
start asking elaborate questions, get waffle answers.

Irelands crime rate can be managed better its a small place, but is it really in some peoples interest.

    Number 1 in 2014? Ha!

Was this a survey of TV3 documentary makers?

Comparisons help to gain perspective. Which US ghettos did you visit that weren't as bad as an average Irish main street for being hassled?

I can think both. The only reason I mentioned Colombia was for perspective/comparison because you said Ireland is a dangerous place. It really really is not. I did acknowledge that there is crime here though.

Im not saying. A few here and there. You can choose to believe or not. Ask any no drama irishman that has spent a good few years there and who has worked in ghettos theyll tell you the same thing. Fine for walking around and working, but get out when evening/night falls.

Unless you find a neighborhood bar thats a complete nuthouse, become an honorary black man and gangbanger, (different occasions) stay there till you cant drink anymore and get one of the normal locals( who are genuinely one of the nicest people ever) to drive you to a place where a cab will pick you up!
