I've just bought a second hand vehicle with relatively new tyres fitted.

Private sale so I've no come back but I want to change them as the rear tyres should be rated 96 for load but the ones fitted are rated 94.

As it's 4WD I'll have to replace the front tyres also.

I can source replacement tyres but is there anywhere I can get a few quid back on the tyres currently on the vehicle - they are 205/65 R15 94H

I was actually wondering the same thing for a similar reason. I bought a car with two different size tyres (front/back, same across axles), but neither is the "correct" original size. I'd like to get the right size, but it'd be an awful waste of the tyres that are on it.

I wonder would any of the part-worn tyre places buy them?

This is really just the amateur opinion of somebody on the internet... but I don't think you need to worry unless you will be loading the vehicle to capacity and beyond. Normal commuting etc duties should be fine - IMO.

The load ratings available in 205/65R15 are 94,99 or 102/100. There's no 96.

    What vehicle is it?

    It's a Mazda Bongo campervan.
    Front should be 195/70 R15 92S and rear should be 215/65 R15 96S but it's fitted with 4*205/65 R15 94H.

I'm not too concerned about anything except for the 94 on the rear.

In all likelihood the 94's would be fine however it's best practice to have the correct tyre size and load ratings.

You should be okay till the next tyre change. The difference should not be significant unless you have a large load onboard.

    /......and as it's a campervan, that's unlikely.....

96 load rating is 710kg. 94 is 670 kg. That's per tyre so 80kg between the two. As others said I wouldn't worry about it unless you're carrying a bit of a load.

What do you think about pressures, should I put a bit more or less in the weaker tyres? They look to have a bit of a bulge but I'm probably paranoid!

Depends how many people are on board etc. lots of campers including my own never get anywhere near their load limit. I would hope that it would be difficult to do in a Mazda Bongo.

    It'll be a fail when it's tested.

What is the rear axle weight rating on a Bongo camper van? Guess it's over 1340kg, but less than 1420kg?

Without looking at the plate on it I wouldn't have a clue.

I should have worded it a bit better.

If the tyres are wrong, the next test will show it up.

Put them up on donedeal or adverts.
They should sell like any other item.

This is what I can find. Hopefully it helps. I left all the details in so you can see if it matches yours. The last figure of 1250kg should mean you're safe enough. The figures are for camper versions as far as I can see.

    Must be incorrect.
Gross weight, can not be higher than sum of axle weights.

Didn't spot that. A couple of searches confirmed the axle weights with the info coming from Mazda Europe. Don't know how the gross could be higher.

OP there's a forum on bongofury.co.uk They might be able to help you more there.
