A VERY ANGRY Bill Paying Customer

We are one of the 50 something % who actually pay the Irish Water Bill.  I received a Text yesterday evening stating our Bill is overdue and a link to instructions on how to Pay.  We have already paid 2 bills so far so I think we know how payment can be made (what an insult to our intelligence).  We will pay when we are ready to pay and if this texting continues we will join the percentage of people who are not paying (which is nearly half the country).

Would you be offended if the ESB sent a text reminding you to pay? Its an automated system that goes to every customer who hasn't paid not an 'insult to your intelligence' you don't get to choose when you pay your other utility bills as they would just cut you off so how can a text be making you so angry?

This is a new service. Billing is a new process. The company as well as customers are still getting used to it.

Kudos to IW for being overly helpful in this case. If there was ambiguity on how to pay people would be giving out stink. Jeez you can't please everybody!

Spare a thought for elderly customers who might actually need these instructions.

I find it hilarious that you threaten to stop paying your bill.
Imagine telling UPC that you don't fancy paying them simply because they texted you.

This is an automated correspondence which comes into play once your Irish Water account has an outstanding balance.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused and thank you for the feedback, we will make sure it is passed along to the relevant department.

If you have any further queries, please don't hesitate to let us know.

    Kind regards,
    Laura

I got my first bill in August and paid it, electronically from my Bank Account on the 4th of September.

Sometime in October or early November, I got an Arrears Notice. I rang up and gave my Bank Account details and was told that the matter would be sorted out.

In the last week of November, I got a bill which listed my new billed amount and added it to my "Arrears".

I rang up again and spoke to a number of Representatives, one of whom found a payment from an account named P & A XXXXX whereas my Irish Water Account is in P XXXXX. The payment was for the same amount as the Bill so we agreed that all had been sorted. The Representative asked did I want to pay my latest Bill there and then and I politely declined.

I went on-line to my Bank on the 4th of December and Paid my Bill. This time I included my Irish Water Account Number along with my name.

I also logged onto my Irish Water account only to find that the "arrears" were still on my Balance.

I used the "Contact Us" facility on the Irish Water Site to make a further complaint.

This afternoon, I received the following e-mail from Irish Water:

"Thank you for your email regarding your payment.

I can confirm that following your phone call with us, your payment was allocated to your account. The outstanding balance is only for the most recent bill.

If you have any further queries you can visit our Questions and Answers section here, alternatively you can reach us by using the contact details below.

    Yours sincerely, "

I logged in again to my Irish Water Account only to find that not only were the "Arrears" were still on the Account, my payment of the week before still had not been credited.

    What a shower of messers.

I don't think it's right that Irish Water send texts at all. I never agreed to it.
I have never received an email or letter from Irish Water and I got a text the other night saying I owe money and pay it online.
I don't think I am even a customer of Irish Water btw
