I quite like the styling, even the back will grow on you. Nice alternative to the German stuff.

Hopefully it's not FWD 1.6 diesel.

Agreed. Love the new xc90 and I think this looks stunning... Except for that back. Seriously wtf happened there.

New D4 and D5s. With the T8 for the top of the range. I'm wondering will that be AWD unlike the FWD diesels. I'd imagine the v90 will look great. Hopefully I'll be able to get a t8 secondhand in a few years.

Really like a lot of the new Volvo's.

That's the thing. This is only the second car from the Chinese owners. You can't doubt their commitment, they're saying the XC90 will be the oldest model sold in less than three years.

I would've thought you'd love that? Looks like an A4

The back of it looks great. American-esque

The rear lights are a bit odd but the rest if it is lovely.
The interior is just gorgeous too. Volvo really make such nice interiors. I'd love one and would take one over a 5 series or A6.

Apart from the back, it looks the business.

The Polestar bit is interearing. It's a render but as we know what it looks like its not too far from the real thing.

The rear of the saloon looks awkward but I think the V90 looks fantastic.

Looks like a cross between a mondeo and a superb.

At least it's not as bland and bloated as audi / bmw / vw styling of the last few years.

It's got more than a faint whiff of mk2 skoda superb about the rear.
It is very square though, which must be admired.

They made a real dog's dinner of that rear. The rest of the car looks impressive though.

Very slick. All the usual 5s, A6s and Es are so common and boring, this could set this segment on fire. How did the S80 compare in pricing to the 5 series at the time?

'Mazda 6' was the first thing that went through my head, too.

Could they make it any uglier? Looks like a bad 1990's concept car

Saw my first S90 parked up today and liked the look of it. I looked up Volvo webpage and there is now a D3 version for €43,900. Be interested to see what its like with that engine. Same engine as d4 really sonwonder could it be remapped in future. Seems like good value tho..might go check it out.

With only 148 bhp, I'd say it won't be up to much. Yes the S90 is certainly not a performance car, but it's hardly going to be an overly relaxing one (which is the point of an S90) with such a weedy engine, either.

I'd say the D4 will be quick enough for most people, the D5 seems a bit profligate unless one really needs 4WD or that Power Pulse thing really does improve the throttle response (though I highly doubt anyone buys a large Volvo saloon on the basis of how sharp the throttle is).

I've seen a couple of these on the road. Look nice but I quess will depreciate massively as this seems to be the case for all large Volvo saloons.
Nice alternative to the usual German competition though.

Front is fantastic, rear is atrocious. Shame really!

Was wondering why 100% of the press shots I've seen have been side or front.

V90 estate version is a lot better looking.

Was behind one on Sat morning going into Dublin on the N7. Tis a big machine. Looks a lot better in the flesh but I'd still prefer the styling of the V90.

Delivered one last Friday - Magic Blue (Very Dark Blue, looks Black most of the time) and it's some car, although the pilot assist can't handle coming off the M50 at the Red Cow heading inbound......

MY17.5 pricing was released last Thursday Afternoon - looks like the website is being updated for the configurator. S90 gets more models:

D3 150ps - Manual and Geartronic (FWD only)
D4 190ps - Manual FWD and Geartronic FWD & AWD
    D5 235ps - Geartronic AWD only

R-Design models added to the line up, so Momentum (SE), Inscription (SE Lux) and R-Design versions available.

V90 pricing released at the same time, line up mirrors the S90 models above - €2,750 more than the Saloon.

V90 CC pricing also released. Standard and Pro models available. D4 190ps AWD Manual & Geartronic, D5 AWD Geartronic. Roughly €3,600 over the equivalent AWD V90 version.

Centre "iPad" screen will take some getting used to. Voice control of the Nav wasn't great, but lovely and smooth and did most of the driving itself on the delivery - I looked after the steering as the Pilot Assist is really only for motorway work. Active Cruise worked very well in city stop/start traffic - you do need to tip the accelerator to get it going again rather than it taking off by itself.

    R.O.R.
Would you have one over 5 series e class etc?
How do you think they will fare out depreciation wise?

    Any price for the T8?

Yes, but I'd be a bit of a Volvo fanboi, so maybe I wouldn't be the best person to ask on this.

Realistically, it's not going to be a patch on a 5 Series in the twisties, but the majority of cars in this class aren't going to be bought for throwing around the twisties. I reckon it's going to be a more comfortable cruiser than the G30 5 Series, and an R-Design AWD could probably satisfy you if you were that way inclined. Standard kit is of a higher level than 5 Series / A6, but price is now more or less the same.

The only indicator of how they will do depreciation wise is previous models, and that's bad news - S80 tanked in value. I don't think the S90 is going to be as bad as the S80, but I doubt it will keep pace with the Germans. Volvo are trying to move it up to be a direct competitor, and are not giving any additional Fleet support on the 90's (they do on other models), so that will stand it in good stead, but it will cost more over it's lifespan than the competitors.
    Any price for the T8?

I was surprised there weren't any T8 (or D6) versions of the S90/V90/V90CC - if they want to compete against the 530e when that arrives, they will need something.

Nothing on the UK website for Petrol's either, which is a prime market to aim for (with their Co2 BIK) so perhaps they haven't launched anywhere yet, but I'm sure they are in the pipeline.
