have problem with lift in mf 399 when mowing, ie after mowing for about 10 minutes sometimes i cant raise the lift without taking pto out of gear and have to wait for a few minutes.
if lifting a round bale into feeder using a back end loader the lift arms drop completely when hydraulic pressure is put on ram to lift bale off ground
was told i needed probably to replace piston and sleeve in top cover as it was more than likely worn or scored.
    has anyone had similar issue,

Had Problem with Ursus 490. Did you check the filter. On the Ursus there 2 hydraulic filters, I thought there was only 1 and problem was with the second. Two tractor mechanics missed it. A neighbour who restores old Masseys twigged it.

one screw on filter changed, i cleaned filter in feed pipe, but im told there is another screen filter in base of housing and i was advised to replace that one rather than cleaning it.,
another chap advised me to check spring coil inside top cover attached to top link, as that controls lift response and lifting capacity

I know with the Ursus one mechanic advised us the change the lift pump but that was big bucks. Changing the second hydraulic filter worked for us.

not many ursus tractors around here , are they the ones made under licence to MF , basically same as the 200/300 series. where is 2nd filter in those, is it like mf in housing covered,by plate, in mf its been there since the 500 series, if not before.

has anyone done anything with the spring in top cover . i was told that i could weld on a washer onto end of spring on the older models,to improve lifting capability,
was also told of someone who did so and burst elbow or piston piston in top cover, while lifting a heavy load some time later. i presume that spring gets weak and if so , its must be replaceable
