Employer unilaterally removing cost of living clause

    Hi Folks,

Work in a small office of an international company. As part of a global review the company is seeking to 'update and streamline' the terms and conditions of its global workforce.

Part of this is our terms and conditions. We haven't seen the updated draft yet but apparently a clause detailing an annual cost of living increase (based on metrics the employer decides) will be unilaterally removed.

Now - given that the employer decides the rate of increase, it's obviously within their control to set it to zero anyway. But can they unilaterally remove it without our consent?

    Cheers,
    Quad

How is it worded in your contract? Does it give them a get out clause or mention it being open to review?
